Our Name
Kwaray comes from the Latin word for "Why?". It reflects our commitment to reimagine faith leadership preparation for a new era and our belief that an inclusive and transformative approach starts with asking, "Why?"
Our Tagline
"Put Your Why to Work"TM celebrates the transformative power of “why” to awaken a sense of agency in individuals seeking to put their purpose into action. It is shown above in its preferred relationship to our brandmark. The tagline may also be displayed independently from the brandmark.
The Journey of Kwaray
Kwaray was founded by the Pacific School of Religion (PSR), a progressive Christian seminary, graduate school, and center for leadership development and social impact. With a rich 150-year legacy of cutting-edge social innovation, PSR has continually worked to create a world where all can thrive. In Fall 2022, PSR received a generous $5 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to reimagine theological education through a new learning platform. This vision began to take shape in Fall 2023 with the launch of Project K, a preview initiative that allowed the Kwaray team to test innovative learning concepts, course material, platform design, and user experience, while gathering valuable feedback from learners. Now, in Fall 2024, we proudly present the official launch of Kwaray - PSR’s latest expression of its mission to empower faith leaders and expand educational opportunities.
