About This Course

Creators Cohorts is where your big idea gets people, place, and process. Over one semester, you’ll work through the Wisdom-Based Entrepreneurship curriculum from Hildegard’s Entrepreneur Lab, including the Core Purpose and Business Model Design courses, and a set of practical tools: the Formation Method, value proposition design, the business model canvas, customer discovery, and financial model validation. You’ll do that work alongside a small group of fellow founders, guided by experienced mentors and practitioners. Whether you’re still shaping the idea or already finding early traction, this is a place to turn who you are into the product, program, or service you’re building, without doing it alone.

How to Engage with this course

The course is designed to be done with people, not around them. Here’s how to get the most from your semester.

  1. Work through the five lessons. Move through the Formation Method, Value Proposition, Designing a Business Model, Customer Profile + Customer Discovery, and Validating a Financial Model at your own pace, using the workbooks and reflection guides as you go.
  2. Show up for the four cohort days. Each one follows the same flow:
    • Creators & Coffee: a speaker interview and community gathering
    • Private Q&A: a candid follow-up conversation with the speaker
    • Group Coaching: a small group of about six, guided through the Formation Method
    • Co-working: dedicated time and space to put your insights to work immediately
  3. Join in person or virtually. In-person gatherings are at Fieldwork in Costa Mesa, with virtual participation available.
  4. Come with a real project. The more specific your idea, the more useful the feedback.
  5. Talk to real customers between sessions. Use what you learn in customer discovery to refine your ideas before the next cohort day.
  6. Leave every gathering with a next action. Name your key takeaways and commit to what you’ll do before you meet again.
  7. Lean on your cohort. Peer-to-peer accountability and encouragement are part of the curriculum.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Articulate your core purpose and connect it to the venture you’re building.
  • Apply the Formation Method to reflect on your work, receive input, and commit to concrete next actions.
  • Write a clear value proposition that names who you serve, the problem you solve, and the difference you make.
  • Design a business model using the nine-block canvas and identify the assumptions you most need to test.
  • Build a customer profile and conduct customer discovery conversations that inform your next decisions.
  • Build a simple financial model and validate its key assumptions against real-world data.
  • Build ongoing habits of reflection, collaboration, and accountability that continue beyond the semester.
