Assignment | Lesson One | Sexism
September 14, 2026 9:53 PM
Part One:
Post and submit a reflection at least 200 words using the following prompts:
- Based on the readings, with which sexual ethics concepts do you find agreement? Disagreement? What do you base these agreements or disagreements on? How do they translate in the life of the congregation?
- The church has historically been taught that sex is at worst a sin to be avoided, at best something to avoid prior to marriage and only allowed between a male husband and female wife. What if instead the attitude is adopted that sex is great? How would this change – for better or for worse – what the church is taught about sexuality?
- Your congregation has tasked you with guiding them in developing a sexual ethics. What would you include in such a code? What would you exclude?
Part One is due Saturday, October 10.

Respond to the contributions of at least two other class members. Your responses to others may include acknowledgment of helpful insights gained by a fellow student's entry, further questions raised by another's comments, or a respectful critique of another's argument.
