Assignment | Lesson Two | Classism
September 14, 2026 9:55 PM
Part One:
Post and submit a reflection at least 200 words using the following prompts:
- Some Christians embrace a theology that God materially blesses believers. The readings dispute such a claim. Where do you stand on the issue and why? How would you lead a congregation which through their prayers seem to subconsciously also embrace a God who materially blesses believers by the way they constantly thank God for what they have.
- After the Kingdom of God, Jesus mentions money and wealth more than any other topic. How should this impact what congregations should hear on Sunday mornings? What should the message be to the church whose members are poor? What should the message be to the church that is wealth?
- How should we understand Jesus’ teaching about the difficulty of a rich person entering Heaven is greater than a camel going through the eye of a needle.
This part is due Saturday, October 17.
Part Two:
Respond to the contributions of at least two other class members. Your responses to others may include acknowledgment of helpful insights gained by a fellow student's entry, further questions raised by another's comments, or a respectful critique of another's argument. Each of these response posts should be at least 150 words in length but no more than 350 words.
This part is due Sunday, October 18.
