Auburn Worshiping Intergenerationally WINKS Fellowship Course
Learning Objectives
The WINKS (Worshiping Intergenerationally and Nurturing Kids through Storytelling) Fellowship engages selected Fellows in shared, interactive learning in the framework, grounding, and practices for worshiping intergenerationally and nurturing children through storytelling, with deep engagement in the teaching and practices of the late Dr. Walter Wink. Through participation in the WINKS Fellowship, participants will be:
1) Grounded in sacred stories they can animate back in their congregations and communities;
2) Equipped with the WINK method and resources for intergenerational worship and storytelling. They will be trained in and practice the Wink method of Transformative Bible Study with children in worshiping communities.
3) Connected to a network of Wink Fellows and intergenerational storytellers who also do this practice.
Course Components
This course offers WINKS Fellows a variety of resources on worshiping intergenerationally and nurturing kids through storytelling, arranged for sequential, bi-monthly reading but useful at any time, to draw on as you deepen your learning after the in-person Intensive and as you apply the practice in your congregation and context.
The course is designed to provide greater depth and breadth in Auburn's approach to supporting congregations in worshiping intergenerationally, beginning with Dr. Walter Wink's methodology for transforming sacred texts and then attending to transforming challenges that may arise in resistance to intergenerational worship, broadening the intergenerational engagement beyond worship, and rooting this intergenerational vision and commitment for generations to come.
Each component offers a variety of readings, videos, and practices to try in your congregation. The Forum links in each component offer an opportunity to share your reflections, a way to both share and receive insights, ideas, inspiration and support with past, present, and future WINKS Fellows.
