Rigor Level Medium

The DSF Certificate in Pastoral Leadership in a Divided World is created especially for people who feel called to lead with purpose, compassion, and clarity in challenging times. This one-year, ten-course online program is ideal for lay leaders seeking deeper grounding, emerging ministers discerning a call, pastors looking to strengthen or renew their ministry, and anyone who wants to serve their community with greater theological understanding and practical skill. Offered in English, Spanish, and Korean, the program supports individuals from a wide range of backgrounds who desire accessible, culturally aware theological education.

Participants join the DSF Collective—a diverse network of learners, pastors, and scholars dedicated to spiritual growth, justice, and transformative leadership. Whether you are stepping into ministry for the first time or bringing many years of experience, the DSF Collective provides a supportive environment to explore your vocation, expand your knowledge, and connect with others committed to healing and justice.

The curriculum covers essential areas for anyone serving in faith communities today: Scripture, theology, church history, preaching, pastoral care, ethics, stewardship, and spiritual formation. Each course follows a flexible format—three weeks of guided online study paired with a week of live conversation on Zoom—making it a strong fit for people balancing ministry, work, and family responsibilities.

This certificate is particularly helpful for those preparing for ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Whether pursuing the apprentice or seminary track, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in sixteen areas of ministerial practice; the DSF Collective Certificate supports growth in many of these competencies. Anyone considering ordination or commissioning is encouraged to connect with their regional minister to understand the process in their area.

Scholarships are available for both the full certificate and for individual course enrollment, ensuring that cost does not stand in the way for those who feel called to take this next step in their ministry journey.
