S1 A1 Assignment | Connection and Belovedness

Weekly Forum Question | Connection and Belovedness

In the first video for this class, Professor Ruiz defines spirituality as ““living from the inside out,” a practice that requires vulnerability, contemplation, and connection to something transcendent. For many LGBTQ+ people, religious spaces have been sources of harm rather than connection.

  1. How do you currently understand or experience spirituality in your life, whether within or outside traditional religious frameworks?
  2. What would it mean for your activism to be rooted in this kind of “inside out” spiritual foundation?
  3. If you feel disconnected from spirituality, what barriers exist, and what might help you explore this dimension of your activist identity?
